With the passing of another quarter we have left the summer season and have entered into the fall (a relative term for us here in Florida). But, not to worry, the first cold front usually makes its way down by the end of October.
July was a great time with a record number of people attending the services. We usually have the lowest attendances of the year in July. Instead we had the highest attendances for the summer time and then saw people going on vacation and traveling in August. We are now looking forward to the fall season and our good friends from up north to return to their winter homes.
At the end of August, Melodie and I traveled up to the Anchor Baptist Church in Penrose, NC! I was asked by our newest missionary family to come and preach Brother Robert Murray’s Ordination. They are now in Bolivia, getting settled in and going to language school. Pray for them as they get used to the extreme high altitude of La Paz.
September brought our 30th anniversary of Faith Baptist Church. FBC had its first service on Sunday, September 11, 1983. We celebrated this year on Sunday the eighth. Evangelist Doug Ramage was with us for this special day, and was able to travel with his wife, daughter and two grandsons. Doug and his youngest grandson sang, as well as Brother Doug and his daughter. We are looking forward to having Brother Doug back with us in February for our winter Revival meeting. Pastor Daunhauer gave the message. He gave a great history of Faith Baptist church from the beginning to the present. God truly has been VERY good to us here. We then had dinner on the grounds. There is nothing more that can be said about that – except – “Yum, Yum”!
For the past year, Mary Lloyd has talked about not playing the organ. She has trouble with her hearing and it was getting harder to hear what she was playing. I told her she could play as long as she felt God wanted her to continue. Somewhere back in June she told me that it was time to quit. Melodie and I talked about honoring her for her faithfulness over the decades and we felt the best time to do it would be at the church anniversary celebration. We had a special plaque inscribed for her and presented it in the morning service.
We have pictures on our website at http://www.faithbaptist-ss.org/index.php/from-the-pastor - Click on the link and you will see a picture of Brother Fred and Sister Sandy Daunhauer, Evangelist Doug Ramage and his grandson as they sang here for our anniversary service, and Mrs. Mary Lloyd and the plaque she received. It was a great day!!
It is my hope and prayer that we will stay true to our Lord and His Word as the days continue to get dark, and that we would share the good news of the Gospel to everyone we meet!
